Kris Alexander to lead Early Childhood Center

by The Rev. Mary Vano on August 10, 2022
We are delighted to announce that Ms. Kris Alexander has accepted our call to be the Director of the St. Margaret's Early Childhood Center.  Kris has been a member of St. Margaret's for 22 years, and has spent more than two decades working with children in our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd ministry.  Last year, Kris became a member of the church staff as our Director of Children's Ministries, a role that she will continue as she now takes on the leadership of our Early Childhood Center.  Kris is passionate and dedicated when it comes to nurturing young children and supporting parents and families.

We are especially grateful that Kris was available and willing to step in for an unexpected transition.  Carley Harrigan, who  led the Early Childhood Center since 2019, offered her resignation in July when her husband received a promotion and relocation in his work.  During her tenure, Carley achieved licensing for us as a childcare center with the State of Arkansas, then expanded the days of operation and the number of classes offered in the program.  She managed the difficult time of pandemic shut-down with grace, and brought the program back with increasing vitality when we were able to resume.  We are thankful for Carley's leadership and will miss her.

Though we did not expect Carley's departure, it seems that God was preparing us for this change.  After a short period of discernment, it was clear that Kris was the right person to step into the leadership of this ministry, and she is excited to begin this new adventure.  We already preparing for the next step: adding a fourth classroom to our full program.
