Membership at St. Margaret's
Are you thinking about deepening your spiritual life? Considering trying a church? You’re not alone. People around the world, of all kinds of faith backgrounds, and no background at all feel the tug that draws them to God. St. Margaret’s is a community of such people, and you are invited to be a part of this journey with us.
The best way to “try out” a church is to attend a few worship services and get a feel for the community. All are welcome to participate fully in worship and explore our classes and other offerings.
As soon as you’re ready to “plant some roots,” you’re invited to consider membership. Active members of the parish are expected and encouraged to attend worship regularly, continue in Christian formation and ministry, and make an annual pledge of giving to the church.
Becoming a Member
There are several ways to become a member:
If you’ve never been baptized…this is how you will become a member of the Church. “Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble” (The Book of Common Prayer, 1979). In other words, baptism is our initiation rite, and it is the way that each Christian accepts the unconditional love of God and enters into a covenant relationship with God. Adults who are interested in baptism should contact the Rev. Mary Vano.
If you’ve been baptized in another church…then you’re already a member of the Christian faith! To become a member of the parish, you may simply enroll by filling out and submitting the form at the bottom of this page.
If you’re transferring from another Episcopal parish…fill out and submit the form at the bottom of this page. We will request your membership transfer on your behalf.
And a bonus…If you’ve never received the Sacrament of Confirmation, or were Confirmed in another Christian tradition, consider this as an opportunity to reaffirm your baptismal covenant and deepen your commitment to Christ’s Church. This sacrament is not a requirement of membership, but will be necessary to participate in elections or certain leadership roles. If you’re interested in being Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church, contact the church office to inquire about the next Confirmation class.
