Easter 2014
by anonymous on March 24, 2014The Great Vigil of Easter![]() The Easter Vigil begins in darkness as a "new fire" is lit amid the darkness. From this "new fire" all the other candles in the sanctuary are lit. This return of light symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus from the grave and the light of salvation and hope God brought into the world through the resurrection, the triumph of the light of God's grace and salvation over the darkness of death and sin. (CRI) This Vigil is one of the most ancient and beautiful liturgies of the church, as it transitions from darkness to light, and from Lent into Easter. In the middle of the service, the Resurrection will be proclaimed, and it is tradition that congregants ring bells to celebrate that joyous moment. ![]() and don't forget to bring your bell! |
