CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Christian Education is rooted in the weekly celebration of the Eucharist on Sundays. We have designed our formal education program to expand on worship experience.
We provide Christian Education for grades Pre-K through Senior High School most Sundays from September through May after the 9:00 a.m. service. Our curriculum explores the Scripture lessons for that Sunday as well as teaches us about the Christian faith as lived out in the Episcopal Church.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is offered Sundays at 10:00 a.m. for children age three through sixth grade. This is a Montessori-based approach to children's formation which focuses on the fact that the child already has a relationship with God. Stories presented in the class and manipulatives give the children language to help express this relationship.
Youth in 7th-8th and 9th-12th grades meet as two separate groups. The focus of their curriculum is making healthy choices, real-life issues, prayer and meditation, and Scripture study.
We also offer various opportunities for adult Christian Education including Sunday morning classes at 10:00 a.m., and Bible Studies as scheduled.
The St. Margaret's Institute for Theological Studies offers courses at St. Margaret's at various times throughout the year. Examples of classes that have already been offered include “Mysteries of Christ” and "Darwin in Christian Perspective." These courses are an outreach from St. Margaret's to the community at large, with special efforts made to include scientists and others with special interest in exploring relations between Christian belief and scientific learning. |
