What is a Columbarium? Simply put, a Columbarium is an area in which are placed the cremated remains, the ashes, of the faithful. Columbariums may be found in many different shapes and sizes.
St. Margaret’s Columbarium is built in the shape of a Celtic Cross with individual niches in the walls of the Cross to hold the cremains of loved ones. Each occupied niche is faced with a personalized brass plate.
To reach the Columbarium, walk through the woods down a lovely winding sidewalk, past the Great Cross and the Pet Scattering Ground. The area around the Great Cross and on into the Columbarium/Memorial Garden is very peaceful. The gentle sounds of running water in the fountain along with the natural sounds from the surrounding woods, makes for a very pleasant visit into this area of our campus.
What is the Memorial Garden? The Memorial Garden is the landscaped beds surrounding the fountain in the center of the Columbarium. This is an area where one may scatter the ashes of a loved one directly into the earth.
What is the cost of a niche? The
current price is $750 for a niche with two urn boxes and $400 for a niche with
only one urn box.
