Musicians Workshop for Leading
Worship, March 5-6
at Camp Mitchell
For most all of us, music is an important part of our worship experience and
continues to be an important piece in our spiritual nurture. Some of the
members of the Cursillo community want to offer a Music Leaders Workshop to
help build skills and confidence of our MANY musicians (instrumentalists and
vocalists). The hope is to equip additional leaders and music teams throughout
the diocese to lead ongoing opportunities in home congregations and other
gatherings (Sunday Schools, Children's Ministries, Alternate Services,
Ultreyas, other ministry settings, convocation and/or other regional
gatherings, and more).
This is directed to primarily guitarists and vocalists, of all ability levels,
throughout the diocese. Other instruments are most welcome. Participants will
be responsible for transposing if required for the instrument. Participants
need NOT be Cursillistas (attended a Cursillo weekend). Send two or three from
your congregation!!!
The tentative format will be:
· Gather on Friday at Camp Mitchell by 7:00
(heavy snacks provided)
· teach songs, teach music-leading techniques and
helps, practice these skills, AND play music!!
· End by 4:00 on Saturday.
COST: $65.00/person
- includes lodging, Friday evening heavy snacks,
breakfast & lunch on Saturday
- Registration is available on Arkansas' Cursillo website
Spiral Songbooks will be provided. However, if individuals want to offset this
expense to the Cursillo movement, an additional donation of $18.00 (cost of
songbook) will ensure future opportunities for ministry.
Moderated by Shelley Green, Executive Director of the Arkansas Earth Institute,
these weekly sessions held at Heifer Village provide an opportunity to
explore values, attitudes and actions that can make a significant
difference to your life and your community.
Voluntary Simplicity Tuesdays, March 2 – April 20, 2010 (except March 23)
5:30 – 7:30 PM
Tuition fee: $40 per person; $10 discount if registered by February 16
Voluntary Simplicity is
designed to help participants move toward a life simple in means and
rich in satisfaction. The course investigates the meaning of voluntary
simplicity by exploring the material and psychological distractions
that prevent us from caring for the earth and by acknowledging the
connection between our lifestyle choices and the condition of the
earth. Participants will gain insight into the benefits of simple
living through readings, discussions, case studies and personal action
plans for living simply on Earth. The Simple Living Action Plan
includes ways to implement changes regarding consumerism, time
management and living deliberately and the right livelihood.
The 4th Annual St. Patrick's Day Pub Night will
be held at Camp Mitchell on Sunday, March 14th. Corned Beef and Cabbage
with all the trimmings, dessert, coffee and tea will be served from 5:30 - 6:30

Way of the Cross Exhibit at Blue Moon Gallery,
Hot Springs, March 23 - April 17
An exhibition by fine artist, Randall M. Good will be held March 23- April 17, 2010 at Blue Moon Gallery, 718 Central Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The artist will be present during the April 2rd Gallery Walk from 5:00 -9:00 pm. This exhibit, WAY OF THE CROSS: The Passion of the Christ in Art, is the culmination of seven years of planning and painting the fourteen Stations of the Cross as a commission in oils for a church memorial. The artwork has been exhibited in venues in New York City and Little Rock and is returning to Hot Springs. Groups are welcome. The signed exhibit booklet will be available for sale.
Jim Wade of Arlington, Texas who is a collector of Good's artwork and has seen the completed series says, "In this stunning new depiction of "The Way of the Cross", Randall Good's unique style and brilliant use of color moves the viewer from station to station as a witness to the transformational power of love over fear. Encountering Randall's work is an intensely emotional and deeply rewarding experience."
With exclusive representation by Blue Moon Gallery, this Texas artist has taken up the challenge of the late Italian Renaissance mannerists to interpret the subjects in the 'passion of the Christ' for this project.
Other new artwork by Mr. Good will also be presented.
The fourteen drawings - a precursor to the oil paintings are also available for viewing on the gallery web site, along with notes for each station written by the artist.
Our 6th annual Time for JOY retreat will be April 23rd-25th, 2010,
at the beautiful Camp Mitchell. There’s something for everyone in the
diocese to do to support this important ministry for women ages
19-40something.
Sponsors: Seek out a young woman in your midst
who needs a break, a time to renew her spirit. Two per congregation is
ideal, but more are welcome, as space allows. The retreat is limited
to 24 participants, so register early!
Young Women: Speak up! This is what you need, and your Church knows you deserve it.
Congregations: Support the young women who are
coming. Help them plan for childcare, meals, and travel, if needed.
Encourage them to share their experience upon return and watch what a
difference your support makes in their spiritual journey.
Volunteers: Whether you’re a past retreatant or a
more experienced woman in life, we welcome you to participate in this
rewarding ministry. Serve on our committee or help us for the weekend
on our Angel Team by contacting Sara [sara (at) everydaysimple (dot)
org]. You can also help by donating gifts, goods and funds. Thank you for your support!
All: Pray for our retreatants and volunteers. We already have a prayer prepared.
Speaker for the weekend, Beth Maze, will talk about the Wisdom within and creating rituals in the everyday stuff of our lives. Retreatants will also have a bufet of self-nuturing activities to choose from, not the least of which is doing nothing.
For more information contact Shellie at 800-943-0454.
