 Adult Confirmation Classes

Mondays, August 9 - 6,  7:00-8:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 11,  10:00 a.m.

In preparation for Bishop Benfield's visit to St. Margaret's Sunday, September 12, a series of adult preparation classes will begin Monday, August 9th.  The class will meet for five Mondays from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.  In addition, there will be a final class/rehearsal with the youth being confirmed on Saturday, September 11 @ 10:00.  (The youth have been meeting all summer on Sunday afternoons.)

The adults will be using a new curriculum for this year's study:  "Your Faith, Your Life".  We who are seekers (and that really is all of us) are eager for information about the Episcopal Church, what we believe and how we practice that.  This 5 session study will offer the facts about us and some guidance for how to make it our spiritual home.

If you have not been confirmed or received into the Episcopal, or want to renew your baptismal vows, please sign up with Katherine in the office.  We need to know who's coming in order to have the right number of materials ready.

If you aren't sure or you just want a refresher, you are also welcome to refocus your spiritual life on the Episcopal Church in this way.

Childcare will available by reservation.  Contact Elizabeth Connery 821-1311.

WALKING THE MOURNER’S PATH at TRINITY CATHEDRAL

Wednesday nights from 6 to 8

August 11 to September 29

After the funeral and when friends and family go home often is when grief settles in. Walking the Mourner's Path is an 8 week grief group for anyone who has suffered a significant loss and would like to process it in a group setting. Walking the Mourner's Path is a Christ-centered bereavement support program. The purpose is to transform grief into joyful living by offering the outstretched hand of Christ during bereavement. Loss due to a death is always difficult. The support group invites those who have faced death and suffered the loss of a loved one to come into God’s loving presence in community with others.

While the Mourner's Path is a non-denominational ministry, it is distinct from many other bereavement programs in that it is  Christ-centered, scripturally and spiritually based. Walking the Mourner's Path is not group therapy but is spiritually directed. We believe grieving is not lack of faith but a natural part of living. Through the eight-week program, complete with workbook, mourners learn ways in which they may honor their loved ones, seek spiritual direction and discover God’s promise of comfort in community.

The grief group is sponsored by Trinity Cathedral is planned to begin at Trinity on Wednesday, August 11 from 6 to 8 and led by facilitators  Joanna Seibert, Phyllis Raney, Ann Marshall, and Anita Gwatney. The cost is $80. The class will end September 29. Contact person: Joanna Seibert 3720294, 2255002, joannaseibert@me.com or visit Mourner’s Path web site: www.mournerspath.com

Special dramatic presentation by Steve Mosley:

CHOSEN GARMENT: The Whole Gospel in One Act

SUMMARY

In this dramatic live presentation Steven takes people on a whirlwind tour through the Bible that’s both humorous and deeply moving.
Two Hebrew slaves in the mud pits of Egypt argue the merits of the man “plucked out of the Nile like a dead fish.” who ate locusts!”

Running through the Bible via many characters and stories, he, an indignant prophet Elijah tosses aside Ahab's royal robe as he tells the stubborn king that a coming drought means
"God is going on strike?

A Pharisee spy mocks the Capernaum crowd “fawning over this Galilean nail- pounder—formally introduced by a man turns Scripture into a breathtaking epic about the lengths to which God has gone to choose us as His own, highlighted by the garments of the patriarch, prophet and king. It comes to a climax in the Chosen Garment of Christ laid on our shoulders.
