Women's Institute at Camp Mitchell Default Type Every day from June 4, 2010 to June 6, 2010
Women's
Institute is an annual three-day retreat held the first full weekend of June,
at Camp Mitchell atop Petit Jean Mountain, located near Morrilton, Arkansas.
Women of all ages come together, bringing diverse experiences and representing
different parishes and missions.
Women's
Institute begins on Friday with a personal spiritual growth day known as Quiet
Day. Joanna Seibert, a deacon at Trinity Cathedral and a pediatric radiologist
at Arkansas Children's Hospital, will read stories from her new book, The
Call of the Psalms: A Spiritual Companion for Busy People. She will
also read from a special "recovery" edition, The Call of the
Psalms: A Spiritual Companion for People in Recovery written for people in
12-step programs.
Institute
also features a noteworthy speaker on Saturday, The Very Rev. Kate Moorehead,
dean of St. John's Cathedral in Jacksonville, Florida. Her book is Get
Over Yourself, God is Here!
The
workshops for Women's Institute are listed below. All will be presented twice -
at 3:00 and again at 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 5.
"The
History of our Hymns" will be presented by Gwen Rakes
Sandy
will repeat Tai Chi, which was a hit last year
Sara
Milford will present "Healing Touch" (there's a massage table
involved)
Karen
McClard's topic is "Spirituality and Happiness"
